Bathing Beauties

Yeah...we're gonna need some waterproof window treatments. (Clever exhibitionist bathtub from The Water Monopoly).

And on a completely unrelated note, here is the pool scene from Wes Anderson's Rushmore. Happy First Day of Summer!

My Lucky Monday

Remember this awesome lantern giveaway by Brown and Cote de Texas? Well I got an email this morning saying I am the lucky new owner of a Custom Iron and Glass Lantern! I am so excited and thankful to be in receipt of such an incredibly generous prize--especially since Joni had to be breaking records with the number of contest entries!

Jill Brown, the owner of Brown is letting me choose between the four candle lantern (seen in one of Joni's installations in the top photo) and the single bulb version. While I love both, I think the solo with filament bulb will look really great in our house. The best part is that my husband likes it too--it's a miracle! I have a couple of places that I am considering hanging it, so stay tuned for the reveal...

Just in case you were wondering which item I chose as part of Brown's 1st Dibs Shopping Spree contest, it was the vintage bar bells. I love the classic shape and think they would make clever doorstops!

Thanks again to Cote de Texas and Brown for picking little ol' me to win this amazing prize! What a great way to start the week! If you would like a lantern of your own (or any of Jill's other interesting finds) be sure to visit the Brown 1st Dibs store. I am off to do the happy dance!

Smash His Camera

Pioneer paparazzo, Ron Galella getting his picture taken by a Jackie O. impersonator.

We all love those iconic black and white photographs of Jackie O. running around New York City in the early 1970's. "Smash His Camera" is the sad/funny/thrilling story behind many of those images taken by the infamous Ron Galella. Whether you love or loathe the paparazzi, this documentary is a really interesting look at the price of fame, the first amendment and what constitutes "art". On HBO now, trailer below.

Closet Lust

File this under good ideas:

Glass tops for that island in your huge walk-in closet. (As seen in Ashley Tisdale's house in InStyle Magazine, June 2010). Okay, now I'm depressed.

Art + Design

Artist Ann Carrington's work is everywhere these days! (If you watch Bravo's "9 By Design", then you know what I mean). This time, her Pearly Queen of Dalston appears in the whimsical London pad of accessories designer Lulu Guinness in Living Etc.

You can imagine the two as artistic soulmates...

I hope the collaborations keep on coming! For more photos of Lulu's Notting Hill home, visit Living Etc.
