TV producer Lisa Wagner had these built-in bookshelves added to the bedroom to accomodate her husband's book collection of several thousand. Personally, I do not know if I could sleep with all of those books staring at me. (Photo from Martha Stewart Living, Sept. '07).

Bill Blass (1922-2002) kept books near his favorite reading place, the bed, in his 18th century Connecticut residence. (From
At Home with Books).
Fun Fact: In 1994 Blass donated $10 million dollars to the New York Public Library. At the time, it was one of the largest donations ever made. "Books change peoples lives" said Blass. Right on!
I often have that many books staring at me while I sleep. Only they're not in bookcases yet!
ReplyDeleteLove your site, by the way!
Wow, I'd like to have $10 million to give away.
ReplyDeleteI love library bedrooms! And the Blass room was amazing!
ReplyDeleteMore inspiring decor with books; I just love it. And I love Bill's (first name basis, here, j/k) rug!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about Bill Blass donating 10 Million to promote reading. What a great man.
ReplyDeleteI believe he also left half of his estate to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in his will. He was extraordinarily generous.
ReplyDeleteThat was really nice of Blass to donate all that money to the ny library. What a kind person.
