Armrests and Ivanka

So my little Spring hiatus is turning out to be a bit longer than expected, thanks to a strained tendon in my right arm. It's nothing serious, but my physical therapist has instructed me to stay off of the keyboard for a bit (as I peck this message out with my left hand).

In the meantime, I will leave you with a little design project by our favorite Trump, a budget redo of an apartment belonging to her assistant, Darcy. While this space is not nearly as sophisticated as Ivanka's own apartment, it is fun (and perhaps funny) to see what she would do with limited space and expenses (like spray painting the appliances silver).

Thanks! I can't seem to pry myself away from the internet, but am getting better at becoming a lefty.

Love this blog, just found it about a week ago. What great posts!

I am quite impressed with this redo mainly for two reasons:
1. A Trump helped someone with using limited funds
2. There is so much style and color packed into this little space, it's pure visual stimulation.

I think my favorite feature in the apartment is the panel hanging in the kitchen. Softens the space and brings in such style.

Thanks for sharing! Hope your arm recovers.

I had a similar experience so I was particularly amused at your mentioning your lefty one hand typing. My husband asked why not stay off the computer for a few days - as if.

Enjoyed the photos - hope your arm feels better soon!!

i like the all the colors, but maybe not so much the silver walls. a bit like a walk in cooler?

be sure to keep up with your home exercises--you are very missed!

I agree about the silver walls. I guess heavy-handed metallics run in the family. Ever seen dad's house?

It was 1957 or 1959, I can't remember because I was a kid. Spray paint was just invented. One day my mother spray painted all of our appliances silver! Then she spray painted an "accent wall" in the living room. Accent wall was a term I only heard my mother use until I read it years later in some decor rag. She spray painted the one wall with large gold polka dots. She wore petal pushers, aka capris, kitten heels, a cigarette in her mouth, a cocktail in one hand, the spray paint can in another. She did a little dip, and pssst went the can, sip the drink, dip, pssst, take a drag, dip, pssssst... We four kids sat on the couch mesmerized, and damaged for life. My father is Czech, but we're not related to Ivanka, except via silver spray painted appliances.

Check out poor Darcy's "grinning through the tears" expression in the last picture. She's probably thinking: "I can't wait to take Grandma's inheritance and high-tail it to Ethan Allen. Then I am sooooo getting another job..."

Oooh, there you are! So glad you're back, but the arm trouble is a bummer. (I wonder: is the right brain affected by putting the left arm/hand into overtime?)
