The 38th Annual Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Associates 2008 Decorators' Show house and Gardens is in full swing. As one of the oldest show houses in the United States, this event is always a respected, Atlanta favorite. I have not yet taken the tour, so I have no idea how many rooms are inspiring and how many are flat-out atrocious, but either way it is always fun to see what the professionals are up to. If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by this Thursday night for music, drinks and poking around prime Buckhead real estate during the Cocktails at Camelot event. I should also mention that the main purpose of all this martini-swilling frivolity is to support the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. Check out the über talented kiddos in concert below.

I'm planning on going soon. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.
I am sure there will be some hits and misses. I will always prefer the classic Atlanta homes to the rebuilds, but new architecture has it's advantages--especially when hosting a show house. At 20,000 square feet (!) we know it has plenty of room.

I went to this showhouse a few weeks ago, and enjoyed it. Yes, there were hits and misses, but that is always the case when you have a different designer in every room. Case in point: there is no way that master bedroom would naturally co-exist with that kitchen, no way (the same can be said for the dining room and the living room). Totally different aesthetic. But, a wonderful way to spend a morning, and a great cause to support. I look forward to this showhouse every year!
