Whine

Anyone care for another glass? No thanks.

1) Yes, I bought a bottle of Martha Stewart Vintage.
2) No, it was not a good thing (unless you like your glass of chardonnay mixed with 4 packs of Equal. However, I usually take mine mixed with 2 parts Perrier if that gives you an indication as to my level of oenophilia).

So, I am a sucker for many things Martha. I am also one of those women who buys wine at the grocery store based on which bottle has the girliest label. In this case, the painterly monogram (the same "ms" initials of which I share) did me in. After one sip, I was ashamed of how much of a consumer cliché I had become...until I read this article in the New York Times. As it turns out, none of us are wine experts--except, of course, the experts.

I would have totally gone for the bottle, too! Maybe you should try it with splenda :) !

So glad you're back and (I'm hoping) healthy.

Thanks Laura. I am better, but will probably relapse if I do not turn the computer off asap. Why is the internet so addictive?

OK, I had to look up oenophilia. I think this is the first time I have ever had to look up a word on a blog. Thank you for the edifying experience!

Whoever designed the bottle did a very good job! I too would have bought it based on that monogram.

There are sooo many vintners that do it so well, no need for designer-endorsed wine. I'll pass.

That's too funny! I probably would have bought it too!

That's funny - I am right with as I would have most likely bought a bottle myself.

I used to buy bottles that featured birds on the label and was rarely disappointed by a bottle most (un)fowl. Go figure.

Interesting article. The bottle is very beautiful, too bad the wine did not match it's package.

The bottle is beautiful, and even if it's not all that great I still love Martha too!!

Oh and sorry I've been MIA from blogland :)

I would have gone for it based on her recommendation. Thanks for saving me from trying it out myself. You would think Martha would know her wines. Stick with the 3 buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. (I thought I was the only one buying based on pretty labels.)

I love great packaging and would have definitely bought this. Usually good packaging = a good product, but obviously not always.
