The Art Directed Table

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas over at the Spade's house...

Elle Magazine attends a holiday dinner hosted by Andy and Kate Spade in the December issue. Celebrating retirement perhaps? The table setting was inspired by the Kate Spade for Crane peony stationary. (Click on photo to enlarge details).

An otherwise traditional table setting is challenged by contemporary art. Red painting is by Terry Winters. Black and white prints are by Hugo Guinness. (Photographed by Jason Frank Rothenberg for Elle Magazine).

This is only a small sniplet of the Elle article, which is great if you are a Kate Spade fan. Of course the photos are typical fashion mag, postage stamp size.

This is a fun surprise because last year, with all the Spade holiday wares on the market, I think several of us wrote about how we'd love to see the couple's place decked out for xmas.

I love how those two have their own style, and don't seem influenced by trend or fashion. Instead, they seem to set trends, and obviously fashion.

I am in love with that chandelier!

I love Kate Spade's old-dowager-chic-done-young sensibility.

Swank. + decorno's hyphenated descriptor.

The calligraphy on the invites & menu cards looks exquisite. Would love to know the artist.
