Design With Silex

And you thought they only doled out helpful fashion and parenting advice! In case you had your doubts, here is clip of Simon and Alex trying to impress/belittle their poor architect with their design concepts. Watch them explain the latest trends in kitchen design as the champagne flows. (I love how these two always have to bring out the bubbly whenever it's time to write a check).

More dirt and much wittier observations on the Real Housewives can be found via the truly brilliant, SGM.

Update: "News flash, granite is way more "In Vogue" then growing mold on your ceiling." - A note to Alex from OC Tamra's blog

That is too funny! The poor architect is like "What have I gotten myself into?!"

I think they may be kidding themselves to think that everything they want can be done for $200,000 and in 3 months. Good luck, Silex!

They suck.

I have rarely seen such a smarmy couple. Barf.

Really. $200,000 and they want to move the kitchen from the basement to the second floor and there's water leaking. I cannot wait!!

Thank you, M. I had forgotten about the "aren't people who want to immed start a renovation stupid?!" comment because I was too busy wondering where they're gonna get the $200k.

Alex's dad must have left her money. It's the only explanation.

I love love this show... but Silex takes the cake for most cringe worthy participants. I haven't watched this episode yet but I can't wait. I do however have vivid memories of season 1 seeing there house in a state of utter disarray... which would be fine if they hadn't been so snobby about it. I mean really, how do they manage to keep a straight face? He makes my skin crawl and her voice makes me gag. 'Francoise!' ewww

I can't wait to see how it turns out with the "lime green" appliances, but I feel SO SORRY for that architect. You could tell that he was cursing the damn recession as he was trying to get the hell outta there with their check.

oh this made me laugh! The expressions on the Architect were priceless! goodness that had me giggling. One could feel sorry for 'Silex' if they weren't constantly self-consciously dissing every one else while talking in Madonna-eque fancy voices.

This scene bothered my like no other - they totally tried to play off their futon and inflatable pool by saying they wanted to live in the space so they could get a sense of where things should go before renovating. And I have news for them, $200k won't even buy a Porsche Poggenpohl kitchen. Put that in your architecture notes right next to where you read that granite was out. Anybody want to make bets there will be chalkboard paint involved in this renovation?

I like them better than the countess.

hey!! i am so glad you are back! i thought you were gone for good...i totally notice the champange following too when they were meeting w/ that architect! and that blow up pool in the backyard was killing me!

I actually got as tickled as Snoopy when Charlie Brown made riduculous proclaimations! Dude, what are they talking about? Such phonies!!! $200K? Total renovation of 2 floors? Moving kitchen to a new floor? Granite is so last decade? What? Give me a glass of champagne. Oh, and did you see the architect's face when they said Alex asked (rhetorically) "doesn't everyone have to live in the space to see what to do to it first"...yuck, yuck, yuck!!!

Oh, I just left a comment, and forgot about that disgusting, strawberry nippled Simon's timeframe of 3 months! Brother!

When you break it down, it is pretty frickin cool that they could buy an entire building to renovate, but all of the excuses over why it has not been done yet just show how desperate and insecure they are.

They need to own it and be proud instead of attacking the way other people live (i.e. "the Hamptons suck"). Why can't they just say "we needed time to save the money to do it right" instead of "people who renovate within the first year are morons". Jeez--these two exhaust me!

ok it's freaky how emotional this show makes me. but i have to write as I just had the joy actually watching the episode and OMG! my husband doesn't want to talk about it and I need to vent. they are sooo annoying with their airs and pretensions. it's one thing to need to save up for a reno but another to be snobby and condescending about it. give me a break. and what's the deal with champagne ALL the time?! maybe bravo has a Veuve Clicquot sponsor or something? Otherwise it just doesn't make sense? so silex makes my skin crawl, but the countess is starting to hit my gag reflex. she is SO irritating. I was so repulsed by her behavior that I actually started to like Ramona. can't wait for the next episode, looks like they move into one room, dorm style. i mean how can you have your kids live like that and spend such disgusting amounts on vacations and clothing? ewww

I think you said it- they are exhausting! I think they need to stop trying so hard. They seem to really be cut from the same thread...they should just enjoy one another and give the wannabe stuff a rest!! Life is way too short to keep up with the Jones!!

They live a few doors down from me in Brooklyn and they seem so down to earth in the neighborhood....they take the subway, i see her walking her kid to school, they even have these two cute little old italian ladies (who must live on the top floor or something of their brownstone) that sit out on the front stoop every summer evening. she always smiles when she walks by me too.
