Just when we think we have Martha's Halloween game plan all figured out (hand-dipped candy apples, intricately carved pumpkins, etc.), she warps our fragile little minds with an offering of "glittered skeletal parts".

It's a little creepy but I kind of like these. It's like a cheap version of a Damian Hirst.
yikes! i'm a little scared of the skulls. i think i'll stick with her beautiful pumpkins, gourds, leaf displays, etc.
BA, you are so fine. This post is a scream! I'm digging (pun acknowledged) the place setting, and the delicate arrangement of skulls under the glass. (Reminds me: do you remember the Barneys Christmas window - when the main store was on 17th St. - parodying Martha? The photo of her here reminded me of it.)
My daughters will love this skull glamification project!
I think what's a bit disconcerting is these are practically life- sized skulls!!! Human skulls OK when you they are minatures, or in printed material, but these are scarily real.

I have always liked this kind of things . I'm a fan of fiesta de los muertos and their decoration in Mexico
They're cute, but I'm not letting any kid decorate with glass shards. I love Halloween and all things spooky, though.
Call me weird, but I have always thought skulls were kind of beautiful. I just thought it was so funny to see Martha with a pile of heads under a glass cheese dome.
As far as trying this at home, I have not gotten around to Halloween decorations yet. This is the first time I have lived in a house that will acutally get trick-or-treaters so I will probably go a bit out of my way this year.

Back when I used to watch the original Martha show, I noticed how she LOVES Halloween. Each year they push things a bit further (one year they sold severed fingers :)
Anyway, I like these glittered creations, but that particular type of glitter is quite pricey. Beautiful though.
I think these are fabulous looking - and seem easy to do (have you ever read her instructions for the gingerbread house? heavens.) I think I could use the old stand-by dime store glitter and still come out ok.
Absolutely. Re-reading the instructions, I see that it is just the hand bone that is made with glass glitter (which to me is prettier, but I would think twice about eating off of that plate). The skulls are made with superfine velum glitter, so it should be a safe project. I believe you can order the plastic body parts on her website.
I love the place card holder! With all the spare bones around, it sort of makes you wonder what's for dinner.:O

Glitter and skeletal remains - can they really coexist? I'm thinking it's kind of weird. I could see black glitter maybe for the skulls or iridescent glitter for the skeleton. Maybe I'm too much of a purest. If you love Halloween you should check out curious sofa diaries photos of her shop all decked out. It's quite Poe-esque. Very cool.

Have you checked out her collection at Macy's? I haven't seen any of it in person but from what I have seen it's pretty awesome...based on some of her own vintage and antique pieces.
I love it. I think it's fun.
Those skulls kinda creep me out. Martha Stewart is super cool though. I use to love watching her show.
