Pura Vida

Hola! I am back from the beautiful, Guanacaste region of Costa Rica with a fading tan and new love for this country. Despite traveling during the rainy "low" season, we had fabulous, sunny weather most of the time. Of course I would be a little dissapointed if we did not see any rain in the rain forest, so I was happy to have a little downpour during our trek into the jungle for horseback riding and a thrilling ( = scary) zip line canopy tour. If you are thinking of traveling to this part of the world, go now before the Disney Cruise Line pulls in!

Surfers on Playa Langosta, just south of Tamarindo.

Swinging from the trees in Rincon de la Vieja national park. The first platform seems harmlessly low to the ground, but before you know it, you are above the tree tops.

In the midst of this river sits the world's most relaxing hot springs.

Horseback riding in Rincon de la Vieja. The last volcanic eruption was in 1998.

A colorful mosaic at our charming little hotel, Sueno del Mar.

An elusive howler monkey. So cute!

A view through the trees to the beach at the super luxe, Peninsula Papagayo.

Sunset over Playa Langosta.

Welcome back! Looks like you had fun. Did you swing above the trees ... or just watch everyone else do it?!

Thanks. I am glad to be back and will be busy catching up on everyone's blogs. So much I have missed.

Yes, I zipped along with everyone else. Though, had I known how high it got, I probably would have just watched. Once you are up in the trees, there is only one way down. Glad I did it though!

So jealous! It looks amazing. I have a Costa Rican friend here who's dreaming of moving home and opening a B&B with her husband. Hope they do so I can visit!

BEAUTIFUL photos; hoping you got lots of journaling in... especially in your hot West Elm journals!

SO glad you're back!!!

Yes, I did a lot of writing, though I must say, the cute West Elm journal did not function well. The first page came loose from the binding. Luckily all I had written on it was "Costa Rica 2007". I may need to add a disclaimer to my original post!

Looks like you had a great vacation...and I recognized a couple of the same spots from when I was there a few years ago. It really is a beautiful country.
