Opening Season

With all of the excitement over Gwyneth Paltrow's pad in House and Garden, I almost overlooked this rendering of Kelly Wearstler's new boutique at Bergdorf Goodman. Strictly selling home accessories, the space is comprised of niche displays for vases, bowls and the like.

Many of the items available for sale were originally conceptualized while Wearstler was designing hotels for the Kor Hotel Group and in need of decorative accents. The in-store Design Happening will be the first opportunity to view the boutique space next weekend. (Pictured above is the Knot dish, Thorn goblet and compote). For more photos of the new inventory, check out Studio Annetta's post last week.

Because Wearstler's style is so distinctive, it would be impossible to achieve her look from one decorative object, but it should be interesting to see if her influence continues to spread on the East Coast. Photo from Modern Glamour (via Flickr).

I think some of her pieces could definitely loosen up some East Coast interiors!

I am hoping to visit in December. Although I am a KWID fan, I have yet to see any of her spaces first-hand.

I'll be there this Friday through Monday! Will it be open then - will I have to get into a fist fight to get in? I can pack some brass knuckles just in case!

I can't wait for a New York blogger to take pics for us all...I'm afraid it will be a while before I get back to the big apple again. Thanks for the mention by the way...

Good for Kelly. She really does have a unique voice when it comes to design. I most appreciate that the Wearstler look is never quite the same, never predictable (unless predictably unpredictable makes her predictable). So seeing her branch out into retail offerings at BG is just wonderful.

And I agree, a compote dish will never lend a KWID look to an entire room, but it's a nice piece to add either way ;)
