Quantum of Solace

Villa La Gaeta in San Siro, Italy

As a lifelong James Bond fan, I couldn't be more excited about the newly released details of the upcoming movie, Quantum of Solace. The script of the 22nd Bond installment will pick up one hour after 2006's Casino Royale ends. Hopefully, this means we will be seeing more breathtaking views of Lake Como, Italy and the 1920's Villa la Gaeta, where the last scene was filmed.

Other shooting locations will include Austria, Panama, Peru and Chile. I think I can confidently blame Bond set locations for my early and insatiable wanderlust.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the second-best Bond ever, while French actor, Mathieu Amalric of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly fame comes on board as the new villain.

The scheduled release date is November 2008. Less than a year to wait...

Oh Daniel Craig.. swooning... I'm so into James Bond! (too much maybe ?) It's funny how villains used to be Russian, and now they're French. Freedom Fries leftovers possibly?

Ah, fabulous post, BA. Mr. Craig is the only Bond who has even the slightest shot at usurping the JB throne from Sir Sean Connery. Can't wait for this next one. Only peeve: the title. The producers seem ever-committed to preserving Fleming's original titles (this one being from a short story); I think this time, they'd do well to rework it. What think?

I'm swooning too! Have you ever seen Daniel Craig in Layer Cake??? Mon Dieu! That's how I knew he'd make a great Bond. Can't wait for the new movie!

I almost posted that photo of Daniel Craig in the blue bathing trunks, but it is like looking directly at the sun.

DM, I am just happy the title does not include the word "kill" or "die".

HC, Thanks for reminding me that I need to see Layer Cake. I have heard it was great.

You've peaked my interest. I may need to borrow my dad's boxed set of the SC Bond series (the only one that counts in his mind) to soak up all the stunning visuals.

I for one love the name - almost heart breaking. Loved the return of the Bond movie that did not rely on special effects/gadgets and is more about the 007 character.

Bond bevy of beauties, blondes or brunettes, both?
Prey tell, who are the leading "bondettes?" I am humming the music already!

God, that first picture is gorgeous! You think they have apartments for rent there? And I like the new typography for your header. You got rid of the "rivers", eh? :-)

I need a vacation, and perhaps a new escort. My boyfriend, George Clooney is getting a little long in the tooth.

BA, well done.... A Bond post! Read the books, read the Fleming biography, own the Ultimate Boxed set collection... and all because of Roger Moore's first "Live and Let Die." Be careful what you introduce children to, it will come back and haunt you in the end. (And yes, Mr. Craig, with the help of truer scripts, will be a defining Bond. But, really, I love 'em all.)
