Happy New Year

A 2007 sunset taken in Tamarindo, Costa Rica

I usually have a laundry list of very specific resolutions, but this year I am focusing in on one thing. No kickboxing classes to take, no pies to bake, no latitude lines to cross. All I want to do is make my career life more like this...

The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.

-James Michener

Happy 2008 to all! I hope your hangover is not is bad as mine today.

Interesting thoughts! I agree that if our work can feel like play it is the best of all worlds! Mine often does feel so fun I could pinch myself! But then I work too much, er, ah, play too much and my hubby starts whining.

:-)

Happiest of New Years!

Brilliant - I am saving this quote - that is truly something to aspire to. It's not the hangover so much, as the musical beds we were playing with our children and dog that have made today mighty long. No indication of the year to come, I'm sure.

Thank you for such an inspiring quote. Like Mrs. Blandings, this is one worth saving. Happy New Year.

awesome quote! makes me feel rather fortunate i since really do love what i do, and sometimes can't tell where work ends and my fun begins (some days, of course, the difference is obvious).

hope your hangover is gone by tomorrow, and happy new year!

The trick is too do something that you love and something that if you didn't have to work you would do for fun.
All the best to you for 2008 and wishing you lots of "pursuing your vision of excellence" !!!!

Happy New Year, Brilliant! Great quote and very inspiring--and about that hangover, I may have had a little too much champagne myself :) Cheers to a wonderful 2008!
